A Proportional Fairness with Bandwidth-Borrowing Scheme for a Two-Tier NEMO System

چکیده
In this paper, we present a proportional fairness with bandwidthborrowing (PFBB) scheme for a two-tier NEMO system. When traffic load is light, free-slot borrowing is employed to maximize system utilization. On the other hand, when traffic load is heavy and session arrival rates in different tiers are not proportional to their distributed areas, busy-slot borrowing is used to achieve proportional fairness. A mathematical model is built to analyze the performance in terms of the system utilization, blocking probabilities, and fairness index. Analytical results show that fairness index can be affected significantly, when session arrival rates in different tiers are varied.

Stateless Proportional Bandwidth Allocation
This paper proposes a new method of bandwidth allocation during congestion, called the proportional allocation of bandwidth. Traditionally, max-min fairness has been proposed to allocate bandwidth under congestion. Our allocation scheme considers the situation where flows might have different subscribed information rates, based on their origin. In proportional allocation of bandwidth, during co...
متن کاملProportional Allocation of Resources on Shared Ring Buffer for Virtualization
In virtualization, without proper scheduling and resource management, a load surge in one VM may unacceptably degrade the performance of another. Key requirement of IO performance virtualization is performance isolation. The current state of performance isolation for virtualization is more rudimentary. This paper presents a resources allocation framework, based on abstracted Xen IO model, that ...

This paper studies fair scheduling with Quality of Service (QoS) support in ad hoc networks. The goal is to satisfy the minimum bandwidth requirements of guaranteed flows and to provide fair share of residual bandwidth among all flows. We propose a new cluster-based mechanism called two-tier slot allocation protocol (2TSAP), which improves system throughput and ensures per-cluster fairness whil...
متن کاملWiMAX DBA Algorithm Prioritizes Bandwidth Provision by Using a Reserved 2-Tier Max-Min Fair Sharing Policy
IEEE 802.16 leaves important issues like uplink bandwidth allocation to vendors. This paper proposes an enhanced WiMAX DBA (Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation) algorithm using a reserved 2-tier Max-Min Fair Sharing Policy (2tMMFS_reserved-DBA) to improve the system performance than our previous 2tMMFS-DBA one. First, the algorithm reserves 10% of the total bandwidth for rtPS application before bandwi...
متن کاملAn optimized QoS scheme for IMS-NEMO in heterogeneous networks
The network mobility (NEMO) is proposed to support the mobility management when users move as a whole. In IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), the individual Quality of Service (QoS) control for NEMO results in excessive signaling cost. On the other hand, current QoS schemes have two drawbacks: unawareness of the heterogeneous wireless environment and inefficient utilization of the reserved bandwidth...
